Oil producers decide to postpone any price hike

ALGIERS- Oil producers affiliated members to the Algerian Association Oil Producers (AFAO), including "Afia", "la Belle", "Safia" and "Zinor", agreed to postpone any price hike, said a press release of AFAO. These oil producers decided, after a meeting held with the Minister of Trade, "to postpone any price hike until the public authorities set up regulatory mechanism," the source added. The release said that these measures show "the strong commitment" of these operators to "stand by the side of citizens and public authorities in such situations." AFAO members also called on all operators of the chain of distribution "to support this initiative and immediately apply this price decrease." The oil operators will work jointly with public authorities "to seek lasting and economically viable solutions for these operators and to protect the citizens' purchasing power," the source added.
