Calm restored in Algiers

ALGIERS- Unrest prevailing Thursday and Friday in some neighbourhoods in Algiers subsided on Saturday, except some regions where protest persisted, but less intensely.
Calm is restored throughout Algiers, especially in Bab el-Oued and Mohamed-Belouizdad that have been Thursday the theatre of disturbances marked by looting and acts of vandalism against public and private buildings.
Normal life also resumed in the various parts of the country's east on Saturday. Citizens went about their daily business, despite some areas of tensions; quickly hold in check by police.
