Two road accidents kill 13, injure 17 in Djelfa

ALGIERS- Thirteen people were killed and 17 others injured in two road traffic accidents Thursday in the province of Djelfa (275 km south of Algiers), a source from the Civil Protection Department reported. Ten people lost their lives and five others injured in a collision between a passenger van and a trailer truck at 15:40 in the commune of Benhar, subprovince of Birine, Lieut. Bernaoui Nassim said. The five injured people were evacuated to the hospital of Djelfa to receive the necessary medical care, he added. The second accident occurred in the morning, in the town of Aïn Ouessara, killing three people and injuring twelve, according to the source. The casualties were the outcome of a collision between a staff transport truck and a car. The injured were evacuated to the hospital of Ain Ouessara. Security services went to the scene of the two accidents to determine the circumstances, Lieut. Bernaoui said.
